The dead have risen, and their hunger for the flesh of the living is insatiable …
It has been six weeks since the virus engulfed the world. Everyone who was infected died, and then rose again. Governments collapsed, armies fell, and civilizations turned to dust as the human race tore itself to pieces.
The living are in danger of becoming extinct …
Jeff Blaine has witnessed the annihilation of his family and everything that mattered to him. When he steps outside his home for the first time since the world died, he meets Megan, George, and Jason, three other survivors who force him to accept that there may still be a reason to fight and live to see another day.
It doesn’t take long for the quartet to stumble into a trap set by a group led by the charismatic Michael. While he promises a safe haven from the undead behind the walls of his makeshift fortress, the loyalty he and his cronies demand may be too high a price for Jeff and the others to pay.
Daylight is fading for humanity …
When a routine supply run to a nearby town turns deadly and the ghouls walking the street track the living back to their hideout, the mettle of the meager band of survivors will be tested as they are forced to face the onslaught of the undead.
Even as they flee, and their world falls deeper into despair, Jeff and the others must find a way to defeat not only the undead, but the hatred that threatens to cripple their souls. Because the only way anyone will survive is if they can find their way beyond the dark.

Personally I can’t see how with the short books and big details the story can wrap up properly in the third book, to me after the second book it feels like there should be at least 2 more books to properly display the whole story, seems to short with just this book, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough :).

Hmm after finishing the last book of the dark trilogy I am left with mixed feelings.
*SPOILER ALERT*
Like I said after the second book I enjoyed reading/listening and the details made me feel connected to the main characters and the vibe they were in, the writing style was good and overall it was quite exciting. It was definitely a proper cool zombie trilogy. That said there were some negatives. First off the details when in a fight or dangerous situation seem to stretch to a point where the action gets overshadowed with the details, even though the action scenes were good it still felt focused too much on the details. In every book certain sentences were repeated about 50 times which felt a bit too much, I understand there are so many ways to describe someone’s fear in their eyes but repeated the same sentence so many times in a single book seems a bit lazy, especially when the books are already quite short. The worst thing about the whole trilogy is the fact that even though it sort of has a beginning it does not really seem to have an end, it almost feels like the writer just picked a random week in zombie world and just called the end of the week the end of the trilogy, there was definitely alot more to explore for the group and it just felt a bit random, I kinda felt as if the trilogy just stopped at the middle of the apex. Even though alot of things in the books make no sense to me (the massive amount of change in character by the main group, one moment they act like warriors the next they are weak and scary, it almost feels like they’re all bi-polar), I guess that’s just a certain writing style but one thing I just can’t get over is the fact that even though all the travelling the four main characters of book one did they somehow never wanted to go with George to his family which were only 60 miles from where they picked him up the first time. They had no clue where they wanted to go, just out the crazy area’s so why not just go with your friend to his family. A big part of the story is George trying to get home, yet in 3 books his new “family” never decide to just go North for couple miles to get him to his family. Every city they moved to was a war for the group so it just makes no sense they let him go on his own to his family when every place, everywhere is fucked up… So definitely a cool trilogy but way too short and with a couple of big mistakes (in my eyes) that really dampen the great trilogy it could be…
