Ex-soldier and new witch, Viv, has led the exiled Kazarans in the recovery of their city. Now victorious and saddled with pesky concepts like “democracy” and the “rule of law,” she has also prepared for the return of the humiliated Prince Lancer, who cannot afford to let her live.
The enemy army is strong, but Viv is ready and armed with the knowledge of earth’s guerilla warfare, the power of friendship, and a genocidal golem. Her foes will have much to contend with if they want to reach the city. After all, it’s not a war crime if there are no war laws.

Okay, seen I could nab the 4th book in this series and, did it as quickly as possible.
I really like the series and, with a cast of VAs like this…you know it will be great and, it is!
This is the 4th book in the series and, the next that is in audio format. I am hoping they will put the other books in audio soon but, this is just a nice treat to find.
Have a great day folks!

I thought I’d post AI’s answer to my question (about the series itself more than book 4):
How much romance is there?
Very little overall—I’d estimate 5–10% of the story, and often less.
The focus is overwhelmingly on:
Magic and spellcraft
Surviving in a dangerous world
Politics and diplomacy
Military campaigns
Character growth
Humor and banter
Romance exists, but it’s a subplot rather than the engine of the story. There are long stretches where it barely comes up.
Are there explicit sex scenes?
Yes, there are some.
The series is not erotica, but there are a handful of on-page intimate scenes. From reader discussions:
They are infrequent, not every book.
They are generally short, not chapter-long or highly detailed.
The relationships include both heterosexual and same-sex encounters because the protagonist is bisexual.
If your preference is simply “I don’t want explicit sex scenes,” rather than concern about the orientation of the characters, you should know they do exist.
Can you skip them?
Generally, yes.
The intimate scenes are not essential to understanding the plot. They mostly serve to develop relationships. If you’re listening on Audible and notice a scene becoming intimate, skipping ahead a minute or two is unlikely to leave you confused about the main story.
Would I recommend it for someone with your preference?
If your line is:
✓ Fantasy with occasional romance: You’ll probably be fine.
✓ Fade-to-black intimacy only: This series goes a bit beyond that on occasion.
✗ No on-page sex whatsoever: This probably isn’t an ideal fit unless you’re comfortable skipping a few scenes.
From what I’ve seen, the books are much closer to something like The Wandering Inn or Dungeon Crawler Carl in terms of story focus than to romance-heavy fantasy. The romance is a side thread, but unlike those series, The Calamitous Bob does occasionally include explicit intimate scenes.
If you’re looking for progression fantasy or LitRPG with little to no sexual content, I can also recommend several excellent series that stay almost entirely focused on the adventure.
