Life has the capacity of great moments and attainment, of lives well lived, fulfilling for ourselves and for those we touch.
But for others life is arduous. There is no spark to ignite the curiosity, to explore and achieve a stability and a growth to their lives. Indeed their lives, in their own eyes, become almost meaningless, their sense of themselves subsumed under a myriad of problems, whether real or imagined. Seismic events in a life might crush them; the loss of a loved one for instance. Coping is difficult, support hard to find and isolation abounds. We never really know the reason or motivation but sometimes one final dreadful way out is the solution.
In this volume our authors, including Amy Levy, Willa Cather, Honore de Balzac, O. Henry, Franz Kafka and a wealth of others, explore stories that help us to understand and recognise a tragic circumstance.

Interesting book. From reading testimonials from 10’s of thousands of individuals over the last 25 years, people who died and were resuscitated pretty much said the same thing about people who commit suicide.
1 you do not go to hell, there is no hell, only what you take with you.
2 - you will be sent back here to live again and face the same issues that caused you to do it.
3 - You actually sign a contract to come here, by killing yourself you break the contract. When you picked the life you are living, you agreed to all these things that are happening to for a reason, you chose these challenges, and are expected to complete or overcome them.
As I always say, if you listen to what these people who died and crossed over have to say, you will see that we 9infact do not die, but are just freed from these meatsuits that cause so much misery.

Hey Hogweed, I realize I am replying 2 years after you posted your offensive message. I just want to ask people to think twice before they talk about death. Some of us have lost loved ones to suicide, loved ones who had struggled hard to get where they were (despite CPTSD, chronic pain, etc) and due to their success, had a genuinely bright future ahead. We are hurt and offended when people say it was just somebody’s time, or describe suicide as expressing failure in life. My gf was anything but a failure; she led a heroic life. In her case, there were many factors, but one was the failure of our medical system, with insurance tied to employers, and insurance policies which are legally allowed to have $10,000 deductibles.
