  The Sword of Truth is a series of 21 high fantasy novels and six novellas written by Terry Goodkind. The books follow the protagonists Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell, Nicci, Cara, and Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander on their quest to defeat oppressors who seek to control the world and those who wish to unleash evil upon the world of the living. While each novel was written to stand alone, except for the final three that were intended to be a trilogy, they follow a common timeline and are linked by ongoing events that occur throughout the series.

  The series began in 1994 with Wizard’s First Rule and Goodkind wrote eighteen more novels in addition to a novella titled Debt of Bones. The latest novel in the series, Heart of Black Ice, was released in 2020. As of 2008, 25 million copies of the series’ books have been sold worldwide,[2] and the series has been translated into more than 20 languages.[3] A television series adaptation of the novels, titled Legend of the Seeker, produced by ABC Studios and broadcast via syndication, first aired on November 1, 2008. The TV series loosely adapts the book series, mixing together elements of several volumes.

  Damnnnn this takes me back, I picked this up when I was like 10 after just reading David gemmells stuff and the two authors will forever hold a special place in my heart. This series is pretty standard trope fantasy chosen one stuff but the character isn’t a dick or overly unrelatablr which is crazy for an early 90s series… do not judge it on the terrible tv adaption that shit mess cringe as fuck… books 8 and 9ish are a slog of “ermmmm what conflict can I do now’ but the murder chicken detective book brings it right back! 😂 last three end the series well and it’s a fun dark and heroic set to escape into

  Ya not a fan of this author either. This book starts out like a fun whimsical epic fantasy until the raping begins. Not sure what the author was trying to accomplish…

  Terry Goodkind was an Objectivist who wanted to be the new Ann Rand. It steadily became a bigger part of his novels until the cast dealing with things required four hundred pages of Richard being the designated Right About Everything Megaphone before anyone can do anything.

  I remember listening to this series like 10 years ago (during the airing of The Seeker TV series) and just being frustrated. I can’t even remember why, it was just something about the story didn’t do “it” for me, and I just felt relief when I finished the series and could move onto something else.
