A Poison Like No Other: How Microplastics Corrupted Our Planet and Our Bodies - Matt Simon
Shared by:cryotag
It’s falling from the sky and in the air we breathe. It’s in our food, our clothes, and our homes. It’s microplastic and it’s everywhere—including our own bodies. Scientists are just beginning to discover how these tiny particles threaten health, but the studies are alarming.
In A Poison Like No Other, Matt Simon reveals a whole new dimension to the plastic crisis, one even more disturbing than plastic bottles washing up on shores and grocery bags dumped in landfills. Dealing with discarded plastic is bad enough, but when it starts to break down, the real trouble begins. The very thing that makes plastic so useful and ubiquitous – its toughness – means it never really goes away. It just gets smaller and smaller: eventually small enough to enter your lungs or be absorbed by crops or penetrate a fish’s muscle tissue before it becomes dinner.
Unlike other pollutants that are single elements or simple chemical compounds, microplastics represent a cocktail of toxicity: plastics contain at least 10,000 different chemicals. Those chemicals are linked to diseases from diabetes to hormone disruption to cancers.
A Poison Like No Other is the first book to fully explore this new dimension of the plastic crisis, following the intrepid scientists who travel to the ends of the earth and the bottom of the ocean to understand the consequences of our dependence on plastic. As Simon learns from these researchers, there is no easy fix. But we will never curb our plastic addiction until we begin to recognize the invisible particles all around us.

Thank you cryotag.
I was just sharing some of these insane facts in the comment section of a human diet book yesterday (crazy coincidence). As in, soon what food choices we make won’t matter if we keep polluting the air we breath, our water supply & the contaminated food we buy.
Again with our environment attacking us. Helpless because there is very little you can do.
This may help..

*EWG’S DIRTY DOZEN FOOD CHEMICALS:The top 12 to avoid*
.
“Our food should be nourishing and safe to eat.
But more than 10,000 chemicals are allowed in food sold in the U.S. Some are direct additives, such as
preservatives like butylated hydroxyanisole, or BHA, and butylated hydroxytoluene, or BHT, which are
intentionally added to processed food. Others are so-called indirect additives, like heavy metals, which
contaminate food during processing, storage and packaging.
Almost 99 percent of food chemicals introduced since 2000 were greenlighted for use by food and chemical
companies, rather than properly reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration. Many of these widely used
chemicals are associated with major health harms, including increased risk of cancer, developmental harm
and hormone disruption.
These substances end up in what we eat, thanks to a legal loophole that allows foods to be classified as
“generally recognized as safe.” It’s a loophole food and chemical companies have exploited for decades –
it means that instead of the FDA determining which food chemicals are safe to consume, the manufacturers
of those substances decide.
That can leave consumers struggling to know what’s safe for their families.
EWG’s Dirty Dozen Guide to Food Chemicals shows you which chemicals to avoid in food by
highlighting some of the worst offenders on the market”

Microplastics are the new “free radicals”.

Been warning people about this for over 10 years. This is going to accelerate diseases and birth defects like nothing we have ever seen. Imagine cancer being normal in your 20’s. Much to the doctors and big Pharma’s joy. Although they wont be immune either. Humans are going down more and more every generation. Just so glad I am old, and I certainly will never come back to this psychotic prison planet ever again!

cryotag, thank you. A little late on the legislation of PFAS, and the like, but better to know what’s killing us than not to know.
